FMP

Right so i'm coming towards the end of my second year and we're working on our final major projects. I've chosen to work with another student sarah, and we're collaborating with a third year fashion design student Laura Latham who's working on her final collection...
We aim to produce a Fashion Campaign film in relation to her inspiration ideas and thought processes. We met up with her on several occasions to gather information which we could then reinterpret into our own ideas.
I took key elements from her work and tryed to push the boundaries by researched further laterally and in a abstract manner.

We chose to work with Video and film following having workshops in uni with Danny Sangra.

I found the sessions really interesting and it opened my eyes to the world of film and how much potential there is with it. We used the software Final Cut which we will be using again for our FMP. Don't get me wrong I'm not completely familiar with it... but i guess its all about experimenting. And this is the first time ive gone into a project without having a vague idea of what the final outcome might be. I suppose bearing that in mind i usually work a little bit backwards, so I'm exciting to see how this works out. Life gets boring when everything is in one straight line, lets just say I'm on a dead bendy road... and i have no idea what's around the corner just yet
:)

One of the main elements of Laura collection is Anatomy.
I interpret that initially as Gore/Surgery/Blood/Death ( how cynical do i sound!)
Laura interprets that as ( Movement/Layers/Structure)
So i guess this film may deliver loads of different moods and feelings which could be interesting...

Heres a few videos ive been looking at for inspiration and with Nicola Formichetti being Lady Gaga's fashion director and Mugler's Creative Director what better way to collaborate than bringing The original Zombie boy and The Fame monster together for a real 'Freak Show'

By Using Rick Genest the video creates a really strong contrast between his cold hard body and the floating soft fabric. Its like a something really unapproachable being mixed with something inviting and comforting. It creates a really weird mixed feeling.
The second video is actually directed by award winning show-studio photographer Nick Knight. Both Knight and Gaga are known for having wild imaginations- so together, lets just say they've gone abit Nuts and pulled out all the stops. They have worked on using a kaleidoscopic style and it all seems abit futuristic. The mood of the video is very dark with reference to ghoulish touches.

I love the makeup and art direction of these images...

Lady Gaga & Rick Genest. New best friends?
Rick Genest.
"I Thought really long and hard about what I wanted, about what my passion was. And I decided I wanted to be a F***ing Zombie"
