Starting to grasp the hang of it all a little more now. 

In the first filming when we included Laura's collection alot of the concept came through as a contrast in that her soft chiffon clothes which portrayed her personality, were admits a prickled deserted woodland, which reflected the core research of anatomy,structure intertwine with the natural wild habitat. 

However as we have decided her physical collection is not apt for our final film, we have eliminated Lauras personality as a comparison. I think again this is a good move as we can focus on the concept/ideas instead of Laura as a person and her own project final outcome.

So now you may be wondering just what is going on... 

I know, hard to follow, its swings and roundabouts, but i guess thats how it works, creative concepts are never straight done the line, there's definitely stops on the way. 

Now our film is purely based on how Sarah and I perceive Laura's work and what we take from her ideas/thought processes/research and concepts and how we have developed that. Rather than focusing on her final outcome or her as a person- as fab as she is :)

Film Development and Analysis

Having looked through all of our film footage from Formby, although we initially thought the idea really worked, part of me is still intrigued to film without actually using out designer Laura's Clothing. In one respect it seems like the obvious choice, and the right path to include her work within a promotional film based on her concept- but at the end of the day this is still Our final project. Initially we wanted to portray the theory mood and concept behind her ideas, not necessarily the final outcome. However having seen her collection and how fabulous it was it seemed like it almost went unsaid that we included it within our film.


Sarah and I have chatted over the spring break using Skype. We've discussed the idea and decided to move things on and focus on the thought processes an mood as when we were filming using her collection it was moving more towards how Laura would like the clothing portrayed which limited us creatively and doesn't necessarily reflect our own work...

So this is completely unedited yet, Its the easter break and I'm currently waiting to get The final Cut software on my Mac so i can start :)

so ignore our voices in the background ( Isn't it awful when you hear yourself back from a recording *cringe*) But this will give you an idea of the film we're trying to create...

Film Shooting at Fromby

We started filming today and i really enjoyed it :)

We went over to Formby on the train where they have a huge woodland area which is just perfect as its the exact natural setting we need.

It went really well so i guess its time to start editing...

The beat and black screen in between clips creates tension for the viewer and a sense of suspense. I might give this affect a try during editing...

Ok so try and blank out the strange narrator on this one... but the film work really grasps what our concept is about. I love the eery mist that floods the forest towards the end. The whole piece has quite a spooky dimension, which i think is created by the music and the incredibly slow/steady filming...

This Film really inspired me. The location is perfect and is what i've been imagining for our major project. 

I love the camera work, the jagged movements and the mix of in/out of focus. The whole piece creates a really mysterious feeling and lets you make up your own mind what it could be about...

Planning...

Sooooooooo, time is ticking our deadline is approaching and we still have a hell of a lot to do. But hey, sometimes working under pressure is a good thing right?

The Spring break is also fast approaching which means Sarah and I will be apart for a further two weeks.

The plan is to have the bulk of the filming finished before the break, then over easter we can separately work on editing and developing which after the two weeks we can combine. Two minds are better than one and all that :)

WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW

I have honestly never seen a show like this... 

She pulled out all the stops and it was simply AMAZING. 

A myriad of colours took over the stage- it was like being in a huge Sweet shop when your little- you didn't know where to look! :) 

With 25 costume changes, sequins, beach-balls, confetti, film display, fireworks and star-bucks chocolates i don't think katy could have done anything better... 

 The best part is... she really knows how to belt out a good tune :) 

Video Campaign Track ideas...

I love the style and mixed up tempo's of this song. We thought it would fit nicely with our Video Campaign and will try and mix the two together in Final Cut.

I had a little look into the meaning of the song and its lyrics and it suits our concept and mood really well...

The song appears to be about someone making mistakes over and over, Its almost like an addiction that will pull you in over and over again, no matter how you try to fight it. Our whole concept is full of confusion and contrast which also seems apparent in the song. 

Fashion AD Campaign Inspiration...

MIU MIU FALL 10/11 AD CAMPAIGN 

I love the above video and how it over lays so many different clips. It has both slow and fast areas and lots of contrast in colour. I like how towards the end there are single girl studio clips, compared to the group of girls in the main bulk of the video. 

Filming...

So we're going to start filming on Monday :) 

Off to formby Beach on Monday with Sarah and our model Charlotte- we're going for the full day. I'm really excited but we're going to have such a busy week...

On Tuesday we're going to do some further film work in the studio so we can get a contrast between the film on location. By choosing formby as our base we'll be covering all of the elements from our designers work, or at least our interpretation...

I met Sarah today and we're starting to make a structured plan for Monday. I've been looking for makeup and model styling idea's. Our Garments for the film will come directly from Laura Latham's Collection- however we want out fictional characters personality to shine through...

Here are a few makeup ideas and techniques i want to try and incorporate into our own stylng...

 Maybe the last one is a little more halloween that what i intended... But you get the idea ;) 

Film Environment development...

I got really inspired by these pictures i found on Flickr. They have the mysterious feel i want to try to achieve in our film. I think they make you feel quite apprehensive and somewhat afraid. There's a vivid contrast and the use of lighting is perfecto! I love :) 

Film Setting/Enviroment Ideas...

Having exhausted existing fashion film research I thought it was about time I started looking at settings and styles for my own production.

Considering Three of the main elements I extracted from Laura Latham's Collection were "Structure Movement and Intertwine" I thought setting the film in quite a natural environment would really reflect the mood and style of her work. I looked at woodland/rain forest/trees and other wild habitats for inspiration.
